23rd Nov 2018 work
Lantana ‘smashing and hand ripping’ to remaining bund in zone 3a. Stems reduced to small pieces to allow follow up access. (Site Initiation, safety induction and site familiarisation included)
|
Primary spray run commenced through the Eastern side of the gully in zone 1. Significant Purple succulent treated. A primary woody weed and vine control run will be needed but due to the situation the spray work was prioritised so as to create less trampling and covering of the significant exotic ground covers.
|
Primary woody weed and vine control through the South West portion of zone 1. Selected large mature Camphor Laurel treated where healthy native understory exists. Significant Easter Cassia and Red Flowering exotic passiflora treated.
|
Primary over and under spray to Giant Devils Fig patch on the Southern boundary of zone 1 and 4. This was deemed important to get treatment to Madeira vine and Morning Glory amongst the Devil Fig patch.
|
20th December 2018 work
Cut
& Paste, Crowning, Cut, Scrape & Paint and hand weeding to woody
weeds and vines through the Southern side of creek line in zone 1.
|
Drill

beneath the exotics canopy ready to replace.
|
Lantana
‘Smashing and hand ripping’ to small Lantana bunds. ‘Smashing’ of Lantana to
free up Native stands and prepare areas for overspray works. Treatment of
Climbing Lantana from Natives present. Lantana Overspray.
|
Initial
client (David Straton) education with some works conducted in tandem. The
previous treatment of the vast purple succulent is showing however more time
is needed for chemicals to fully work before retreatment.
|
29th Jan 2019 work
Continuation
of Primary Woody Weed and Vine Control Works through the Southern section of
zone 1 pushing slightly into zones 3b and 4 where appropriate.
|
Previously
over sprayed Lantana cages ‘Smashed’ down by brush hooks and cane knives to
accelerate regeneration and recruitment to areas ‘opened up’.
|
Lantana
‘Smashing and Ripping’ along with some Cut & Paste to isolate existing
native stands. Monoculture Lantana areas and exotic grass areas over sprayed.
|
Drill
and Poison to selected mature Camphor Laurel where plentiful semimature
natives exist beneath. Hand weeding, Cut & Paste and CS&P to all
exotics within the understory of relatively intact native stands.
|
18th March 2019
Previously
sprayed dead lantana frames broken down before continuing primary works to
the south in remainder of zone 1 including control of exotic passionfruit
vine, ipomoea indica, overspray of lantana and other woody weed control. Some
follow up spray in area of work completed during previous visit
|
2nd May 2019 work
Completed
primary woody and vine weed control in area at southern extremity of zone. Sprayed
throughout area worked to date in zone incl. use of Starane to treat purple
succulent, trad, Ipomoea indica, madeira vine and Giant devils figs. Hot mix
was used primarily to treat exotic grasses, lantana, annuals and other
secondary weeds
|
6th June 2019 work
Remainder
of weeds were treated in area previously worked (Sthn zone 1) including hand
pulling/ treating remainder of exotic passionfruit and lantana. Work then commenced on the river bank to
the north and area adjacent the access track which transects through the
zone. Here we encountered an abundance of environmental weeds including
Dutchman's pipe, residual lantana and annuals in amongst native ground cover.
We conducted hand weeding, spray prep and spray treatment accordingly.
|
5th July 2019 work
Followed
up on Camphor laurel stem injection and hand removed any remaining Dutchmans
pipe along top of western creek bank.
Conducted
initial woody and vine weed control in the area adjacent bottom of steep
access track. Lantana was treated and reduced, large chinese celtis and
camphor drilled and vines were treated.
Finished
early due to rain
|
12th July 2019 work
Completed
vine and woody weed control in previously worked area where the day was
called off early due to rain; then follow up sprayed. We then progressed
further north in zone one to the other side of the pipe line. Here we covered
the length of the slope and 20m in from the edge of vegetation. Heavy
infestations of dutchman's pipe, cats claw vine and woody weeds including
ochna and Brazilian cherry were encountered here

25th July 2019 work
Spent the morning doing follow up spray treatment in area of zone 1 where it was a bit woolly. Noteworthy frequent weeds where purple succulent, trad in the shady understory, lantana regrowth in more open patches; cats claw was less frequent.
Our afternoon efforts focused on cats claw and Dutchman's pipe along the current primary front line in zone 1. Scrape and paint treatment here is methodical and time consuming as the cats claw forms a dense mat in places.
